Student Work
This section is dedicated to showcasing the amazing work of our students' creativity. LaGuardia's Equitable Arts Program begins by distributing sketchbooks to symbolize the first step toward self-expression.
Take a look at some spotlights below from various workshops:

Daniel
Inspired by his love for Pokemon and Legos, Daniel created his sketchbook covers by looking through magazines that peaked his interests. Green is one of his favorite colors, which was implemented through letters, star stickers, etc.
Elizabeth
Elizabeth was extremely creative during our Field Day workshop. When asked about her favorite color, she said pink! Covering the sketchbook with pink hearts and doing an ombre effect with her name, she truly embraced the essence of this activity.

Osmond
Osmond used the space given to him by the sketchbook to explore his Chinese identity. He writes, "China is a very special country to me and my family". He also includes how "the beach is a calm and fun place". By combining aspects of his heritage and places that make him happy, his sketchbook became a symbol of that intersection.
Mattheo
Mattheo, a fan of Pokémon and Marvel, used his sketchbook to display his many interests. He used the Pokémon Shroodle as the center of his sketchbook and surrounded it with blues, greens, and oranges to match his card selection. Inside his sketchbook, he added stickers of the Hulk and Spiderman, his favorite Marvel heroes.

Elijah & Osmond
Elijah loved working with the bear and penguin stickers (his favorite animal!). His cover read "I love you" and used glittery letter stickers to decorate it. Osmond loved utilizing the checkered washi tape to border his sketchbook and featured his favorite Pokémon, Pikachu.
Hanna
Hanna's utilization of flowers on the cover of her sketchbook is so impressive. She purposefully allowed it to peak through on the top like a pop-up, and surrounded the borders with pastel blue and pink washi tape. She meticulously selected clouds and an assortment of Shibu Inu stickers. Her sketchbook truly encapsulates mixed media to the fullest!
